After refining of crude oil, about 26% diesel, 8% octane and petrol, 21% kerosene, 24% furnace oil, 1% of JBO are obtained and the rest 20% are available as other fuel oil and byproducts. In the country, 49.78% of the fuel oil is used in transport, 18.02% in agriculture, 22.84% in electricity production, 4.55% in households and others and 4.81% is being used in the industrial sector. The primary introduction of the petroleum products marketed by Jamuna Oil Company Limited is given below.
OCTANE: The HOBC or the high octane blended component is known as octane in our country. Octane is a product of Petroleum Naphtha Group. When octane number 95, it is marketed as octane (HOBC). It is used in Car, microbus, jeep.
Petrol: MS or Motor Spirit is known as Petrol in our country. Petrol is a product of Petroleum Naphtha Group. Based on octane number, 80 octane is marketed as petrol. In particular, light vehicles such as motorcycles, cars, and microbus use petrol.
Kerosene: SKO or Superior kerosene oil, also known as paraffin, lamp oil, and coal oil (an obsolete term), is a combustible hydrocarbon liquid which is derived from petroleum, widely used as a fuel in industry as well as households. Kerosene is widely used to power jet engines of aircraft (jet fuel) and some rocket engines and is also commonly used as a cooking fuel of stoves and lighting fuel of lanterns, lamp, Hazak in rural villages and also as engine fuel for some water-vehicles. The consumption of kerosene has gradually decreased due to the increased production of electricity in the country.
Diesel: HSD or High-Speed Diesel is known as diesel in our country. In our daily life, the use of HSD or diesel is the highest among petroleum products. Diesel is widely used as a fuel for machinery manufacturing, navigational and land-based vehicles such as launches, ships, trains, trucks, buses and in engines used for irrigation.
Furnace Oil: HSFO or hi sulfur furnace oil is known in our country as black oil. Mainly used in small / large industrial factories, electricity boilers and fuel for sea marine vessels. By mixing it with paddy husk and applying pressure, a bamboo-stick type lumber is made that is used as fuel for domestic purposes. At present, the use of FO is the highest in the country.
JBO: JBO or Jute Batching Oil is not used as fuel oil. JBO is a middle distillate produced by petroleum refineries. JBO is used in jute industry. It helps to make jute fiber smooth, soft, pliable to help make yarns and carpets.
